Agathe Snow has always believed in the redemptive and magical power of community. She uses Art to create moments in community around the ultimate belief that one and all should take care of this planet and that we are all community of Earth. Dancing and eating in communities around the world was how started her first art venture “Feed the Troops” feeding communities in subways, staircases and strangers houses, welcoming others with the freshest of foods in the NYC markets. She also created objects as Art, exploring humanity’s footprint on this planet by using only found materials making a point of never adding weight or waste, showing that it is in our power to make the change and decide to take care of this planet and future generations. After years of travel she settled down in Mattituck with her partner Anthony Holbrooke to raise their son Cyrus-Night. Mattituck Mushrooms was born on the where they live and make art, which welcomes visitors with tours, cooking tips, and health advice. First moved by the many shapes of mushrooms, she found herself entranced by the best of living art, the constant learning, and the many health benefits the fungi have to offer. Agathe honors all she has learned and forgotten from her Art practice, the mushrooms in their cultivation and the foraging them wild in the woods. All the people who come from far and wide remind her that there is no stronger healing force than community.
